Shelley Durkin Zintl
Over the years I have worked across multiple contexts in both public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Education, Oranga Tamariki (formerly Child Youth and Family), Ministry of Justice, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (District Health Boards) and Primary Health Organisations.
I have been in private practice since 2007, initially based in Christchurch with colleagues at Child and Family Psychology Services, and more recently as a sole practitioner. In my private practice I have taken on a wide range of contracts, including psychometric assessments (e.g. for intellectual, developmental or learning concerns), specialist sleep assessments and interventions, group and individual parenting programmes, counselling through Employee Assistance Programmes, ACC Sensitive Claims and specialist report writing for the Family and Criminal Courts. Following the Canterbury Earthquakes, I was involved extensively in providing therapeutic services to children and families affected by post-traumatic stress, fear and anxiety related to the quakes.
From 2014 to 2018, I was based in Greymouth. I am now based in Blenheim, Marlborough, where I live with my husband and three children. For clients outside of this area and not able to travel I may be able to come to you in some circumstances. Teletherapy (phone and/or Zoom) is also an option in some cases where appropriate. I accept referrals from all sources, including self-referral.
